100 miles in under 30 miles is pretty good!
I bet I couldn’t do it in 30 hours quite yet. I need to train more.
Congratulations to your friend. She’s an ultra-beast now!!
She’s been training for probably a decade now? She tried to do it once before but got to about 70ish? The weather didn’t help and I think it was just too hot/humid outside and it became more of a health issue.
She has a really good training schedule that she adheres to, alternating short runs and long runs. Her husband is a ultra distance runner as well.
Everytime I’m out hiking now, I think about how she did 100 miles and I think, “Oh, I can do at least 4 for hiking if she can do 100 for running!” LOL It’s great incentive.

Just keep going.
Add a half mile to each of your hikes.
Maybe eventually you can do a Mammoth March which is a 20-mile hike.
I’ve seen people of all ages, shapes, and sizes do those.

My goal is still 10 miles. Maybe when my husband retires we can accomplish that together. It’s more fun when you have someone else with you.

True.
No other women in your friend circle interested in hiking?
You could start a womens hiking club in your area 🙂
100 miles in under 30 minutes is actually amazing, and I can’t say that I blame you for wanting to brag about her; I would be doing too!
I would think she is feeling very proud at the moment, having achieved something like that; I don’t think there would be many who could say they have done so!

A lot of people get that ultra bug when they do them.
My ultra was just a 50K which is still a lot, but I’d rather get better at running before I attempt another run or the next goal which is a 50 miler.
50 miles is very impressive!!

50K is amazing, not something that I could do yet, but I am sure that by building myself up, it would be possible at some point and for sure a goal I could achieve in time.
What are you doing to prepare for your 50 miler? That one definitely sounds like a challenge!

I did weekly training, running a long run and a short run each week.
I made sure that I wore the clothes I would run the ultra in, drank the water with electrolytes that I would use on the run, and stuck to my same nutrition.
I mainly just tried to be consistent and stick to my same hydration and nutrition routine.

Consistency is definitely key when it comes to training for something as long as 50 miles. I can only imagine the strain on the body doing 50 miles without any kind of training, prepping or consistency in those.
Do you have any goal date for when you want to be ready for the 50-mile, or are you just taking it day by day?
That's was a good one by your friend. I'm very sure she set her mind to achieve it. The thing is that we can always achieve whatever we set our minds to achieve. We should start with training ourselves for it.
How long have you been running? Running 100 miles isn’t for just anyone; I commend you for having the physical and mental fitness required to endure a 100-mile run—it’s a great achievement. Besides how long you’ve been running, how old are you?

I plan to run the 50 miler in November of 2027. So, I’ll train until then. Until then, I’ll catch a few half marathons and signed up for a full marathon in the summer.
