Trail Running Socks

What all socks are you all using for trail running?

I recently picked up a pair of SmartWool ankle socks for running. I’m excited to try them out.

I’m also interested in toe socks as they claim each toe being wrapped will prevent blistering.

How about you all?

Since this thread could be for both running and hiking, I’m going to keep my eye on things! I have 3 pairs of wood blend socks my mom bought at Dick’s Sporting Goods over 7 years ago, and they’re too thin to wear now. I was hoping to find the exact replacement, but what I have found LOOK the same, but aren’t the same fit or thickness. Those things kept me warm and dry and cushioned! I did some darning on the warn parts, but it didn’t last very long.

How long does a pair last you?

I usually make socks last for a few years.

However, as I increase my running, I wonder if that will change.

My last set of socks lasted me about 2 years and that was a little disappointing.

How much use did you get out of them?

I hike often, so some socks don’t last as long as others.

I go for the wool socks more than anything these days because they keep your feet dry.
